Can not set default value for read-only field type

I have tried creating and repeated it many times. However, I still could not set the default value for my custom field which has "Text (read-only)".

This is when I am trying to set the default value:

I understand you are not able to set the default value of the custom field of the type "Text (read-only)".

 Currently, we are having a bug for read-only text custom field, which cause us to not be able to set a default value for it:

• Custom field Text Read-Only unable to set Default Value

However, as mentioned in the bug, you will need to use  the REST API to update the value of the custom field.
