When commenting on a ticket, it seems like the auto-formatting is terrible. For example, when including an email address it randomly seems to not stop linking the address. What I mean is I want to comment something like "<username@domain.com> has been added to something or other." and every 10th time or so, Jira won't stop hyperlinking (is that the right word?) so the entire sentence is linked to the email address (the whole sentence will be blue and underlined). It doesn't matter if I follow it with a space, period, comma, etc. and there doesn't seem to be a way to stop it.
There are also issues with formatting bullets, the formatting never seems to be consistent throughout multiple nested bullets, as in, the spacing between the bullets is always different.
The issues aren't limited to these. Their auto-formatting is often unintuitive and I waste way too much time trying to manipulate it.
Anyways, this is not important enough for me to memorize 20 rules for each weird thing their auto-formatting does but is still annoying enough for me to make a post asking for any help. So, any help would be nice
I checked in our Jira Cloud instance, and didn't find any odd behavior when entering and viewing email addresses in various Jira text fields.
I did observe differences between behavior in the Create Issue dialog vs other viewing/editing of Jira issues -- but that's a known issue. The editor used when creating Jira issues is behind the times, but will eventually be updated to match.
It would help to know your Jira hosting type (Cloud, Server or Data Center).\
