Adding Story Points

Kenneth Murray March 20, 2012

Hi

There are some posts already on this, but they don't seem to answer my question

https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/8094/where-do-we-enter-story-points

https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/28454/story-points-not-visible-in-create-edit-issue-after-following-greenhopper-101-instructions

So my question - how do i add Story Points

I am in the Agile, Planning Board, i select tools - configuration - Card Styles

Story Points are not available in any of the drop downs (Card view, Summar view etc)

Also - when i create a new User Story, there is no option to add Story Points

Thanks

Ken

Another thing or two to check is make sure you are using the scrum template for greenhopper. From the planning board go to tools/configuration and verify project template = scrum.

Thanks Adam and David

Indeed, i am using scrum template

Nearly there - extract from second point

  • Go Administration
  • Click on "Issues"
  • Click on custom fields
  • find Story Points and Epic/Theme
  • Click "screens"
  • Associate the fields with all screens and click "save"

It looks like i don't have the authority to Associate the fields (last part)

I need to wait for my Admin person

Having said that - when I click "screens" on the Story Points field, it does seem to be set to "default screen", "workflow screen" and "resolve issue screen"

Hi Kenneth,

Is it possible that the project or issue type you are working with is not configured to use the story points field?

"When you create a new custom field (see below) you will need to either select the applicable issue type(s) and project(s), or define the custom field to be global."

Double check to make sure the story points field has been made available to the project and/or issue types you are working with. If you don't see the field in the any of the card style configuration options, this is likely the problem.

See configuring a custom field for more on this:
