What can we learn?

Ever wonder how often your Cloud applications are updated and receive new features? Head on over to the Release tracks administration page to see which track your apps are on. The tracks are:

  • Continuous - New features, improvements, and bug fixes are applied as soon as they are ready.

  • Bundled - Updates are applied in groups. E.g., Once per month, at 22:00 UTC on the second Tuesday. Note: Bug fixes, security updates, and performance updates are applied as soon as they are ready.

  • Preview (Sandbox only) - Bundled changes are applied to sandboxes a month early.

The default setting for all apps is continuous. If you have Cloud Standard or Free, or see the message “No release tracks”, you’ll need to upgrade your plan to change tracks.

Apps on Cloud Premium and Enterprise plans also have the ability to change from continuous to bundled. Click the “Change track” button shown in the screenshot below and change the selection in the overlay. While you can change the track, the rollout timing not configurable.

If your app is on the Enterprise plan, there’s an additional option to defer changes for 30 days so you can prepare, train users, and update internal documentation. Read more

Tips

  • Want fewer surprise changes in your applications? Change apps from the continuous track to the bundled track.

  • Add a recurring reminder to your calendar to check for changes before they launch on the second Tuesday of each month.

  • Visit admin.atlassian.com > Apps > Release management (Under “Platform experiences” header) > App updates to see the latest changes in your application.

  • Visit https://www.atlassian.com/roadmap/cloud to see planned and upcoming changes. Also see additional change sources.

  • Change your sandbox applications to the preview track to see changes a month before their production release.
