πŸ“£ We've been busy! What we shipped in JPD in January-March 2026

Hi everyone! πŸ‘‹

January-March was a big one for Jira Product Discovery, and we wanted to take a moment to celebrate everything we shipped together with you. We've been listening closely to your feedback across our community, support tickets, and surveys, and this quarter's releases were directly shaped by what you told us. So β€” thank you. Here's a look at what's new! πŸŽ‰

⚑ Timeline view: faster and more granular

Two big improvements to the timeline this quarter:

  • Performance: We've done significant work to virtualise items in the timeline view. If you've ever struggled with a packed roadmap slowing to a crawl, this one's for you.

  • Weekly granularity: You can now view your timeline at a weekly scale, giving you a much more precise view for near-term planning.

🌈 Colour customisation for ideas (now for everyone!)

After a successful rollout, colour customisation for ideas is now available to all customers. Visually organise your board by colouring cards however works for your team β€” by status, team, priority, you name it.

🌳 Tree view (Premium, Early Access)

You've told us for a long time that hierarchy is essential to how you organise ideas. With the new tree view, you can now visualise parent-child relationships between ideas directly in JPD; making it much easier to structure complex discovery work and see how ideas roll up. Available now in early access for Premium customers.

πŸ—ΊοΈ Roadmaps (cross-project views) improvements (Premium)

We've shipped several improvements to cross-project roadmap views this quarter:

  • View sections in the navigation: keep your roadmap organised

  • Visitor insights: see who's been viewing your roadmap

  • View comments: stakeholders can now leave comments directly on roadmap views

See on public roadmap β†’

πŸ”€ Link delivery work across sites

For teams working across multiple Atlassian sites, you can now link delivery work from different sites to your JPD ideas. Cross-site linking is here.

πŸ”— Connection fields improvements (Premium)

Connection fields are now even more powerful. You can connect ideas from more than 20 spaces and connect ideas of the same type to each other. And with the tree view, you can now visualise multi-level hierarchies.

πŸ”’ More control over who can do what

Two big upgrades to permissions this quarter:

  • More granular admin permissions: finer-grained control over your JPD spaces, so you can give people exactly the access they need.

  • Locked filters for contributors: lock down view filters so contributors see exactly what you want them to see, with no accidental changes.

πŸ€– Manual automation triggers

You told us that running automations in JPD was clunkier than it needed to be. Now you can trigger manual automations directly from the idea view (just like in Jira). Notify stakeholders, kick off reviews, create linked issues; all with one click, right where you're working.

πŸ“… Dates that actually make sense everywhere

JPD dates have always had their own special format, but now they're properly formatted when they appear in Confluence and Jira too. A small fix that makes a big difference when you're sharing plans across tools.

☁️ Cloud-to-cloud migration

Moving between Atlassian cloud sites? You can now transfer your JPD spaces as part of cloud-to-cloud migrations, so your discovery work comes with you.

πŸ“Š Visualising product limits

We've added clearer visibility into your product limits directly inside JPD, so you always know where you stand.

See on public roadmap β†’

That's a lot! πŸš€ We're proud of everything the team shipped this quarter, and even more grateful for the community feedback that shaped it. Keep it coming! Your feedback is heard.

Hi @Tanguy Crusson

Thanks to you and the team for the continuing addition of great features to JPD!

A couple of quick questions / FYIs:

  • For the "More control over who can do what" I believe the granular permissions applies to all license levels, but the locked filters is for Premium only.  Is that correct?
  • The link you provided for "Visualising product limits" to JPR-34 cannot be opened directly as it prompts for an additional account login.  Perhaps provide a link to the roadmap view with that item selected.

Thanks, and kind regards,
Bill

Thanks @Bill Sheboy - I didn't write this post (Rovo Dev did), I thought I checked all the links but missed that one!

Locked filters should be the default for everyone - if you're a contributor, you can't remove anything from the filter, you can just filter further.

You may have missed that link, @Tanguy Crusson because you have an Atlassian internal account :^)

For the locked filters, I just checked a Free license site with an admin user, and on a Roadmap view there are no lock icons next to the fields in the filter configuration.  Perhaps it has not rolled out to the site yet?

@Bill Sheboy let me check with the team - it works in a space for sure, I hadn't checked in roadmaps - maybe that part wasn't released yet?

@Bill Sheboy wait - there are no "Roadmaps" in free/standard, just Premium, unless you meant a timeline view called "Roadmap"? If so, then that should work:

To try this: go to space settings > features > create ideas, and click to preview the contributor experience (that way you're sure you're viewing this with contributor permissions)

Thanks, @Tanguy Crusson as I missed in the original thread that the feature it was for the Contributor views.  Once again, thanks for being a responsive member of the community!  Please feel free to "clean-up" this thread and delete my earlier comments if they takeaway from the release notice.

Kind regards,
Bill

The new colour customisation for ideas has gone down a treat with my users and the reformatting of the JPD dates to match in better with Jira will be most appreciated.

I had a peek at the Roadmap and am very excited to see that you will be looking into Dependency management in the near future. Its one of the things my JPD users bring up the most, so would be very keen to see what you have planned

Thanks @Kate !

And no worries at all @Bill Sheboy - you both ask and answer many questions in this group and it's awesome to have you here πŸ™Œ

Great! What about fields from assets? This is critical for our teams and currently a major gap.

These are such exciting updates... pushing most of these to Premium is killing me though!

@Tanguy Crusson - Is there any timeline on when we can expect Dashboards to be added to JPD?

This is a significant pain point right now. I've tried multiple external options, but the challenge is always the automation of the data when exporting to other platforms.

Having well-designed and versatile View, which is a Dashboard, essentially presenting the same data, but using charts, counts and graphs etc.  would seriously enhance the product's value.

ClikUps dashboards are by far the best in the Project Management world if you want some inspiration! world: https://clickup.com/features/dashboards

Thanks.

Hello! Love this tool. One question - is there the ability to duplicate/copy JPD boards yet at this time?

@Grafton Elliott did you mean duplicating a view or duplicating a space?

Both are possible

  • To duplicate a view (e.g. board view): from the left sidebar > ... > save as new board
  • To duplicate a space: when you create a new space, choose the category "product management", and choose this option:

Heads up, the See on public roadmap link under the Roadmaps section appears to be private. It says I don't have access to Jira on atlassian-product-managers.atlassian.net.

hi @Tanguy Crusson! Is it possible to have a Jira Goal as a parent of work items in the tree view?

@Ricardo Santos not yet but it's planned!

well, clarifying, Goals as parent of ideas (not delivery items)

@Tanguy Crusson just realized I didn't tag you - wondering if you had an update on ability to use assets in JPD? Or if you have any workarounds? Thank you!

Hi @Kendra Crossman sorry I missed your comment - not yet, it's in the list of things to prioritize!

Hello,

thanks for the update on new features, JPD is a great tool. I’m not sure if this has already been covered somewhere, but I’ll ask just in case. We are using time logging in Tempo. In JPD ideas, I have linked epics where developers log their time. Is there a way to add a column in JPD that sums up the logged hours from the linked epics? I often have multiple implementation epics linked to a single idea, and it’s quite tedious to manually sum up the logged time. Thanks for your advice.

I really like the updates, what I would love to see in the future:

  • Timeline view updated with multiple hierarchy support similar to the Tree View, so you can group by hierarchy and expand into deeper levels of your hierarchy. Viewing multiple levels of hierarchy in a single timeline view.
  • The ability to have JPD work items, and linked delivery work items from Jira Software in a single Timeline. So you can get an eagle eye view of everything in your roadmap from planning and discovery all the way through delivery.
  • More data roll-up & field syncing options between Jira Software and Jira Product Discovery.
    • There is a lot of potential for syncing data between the roadmap items in JPD and the actual delivery work items living in Jira Software. Right now I manage a lot of this with Jira Automations, but it would be nice if this was a baked in feature.
