Watching doesn't trigger emails for added comments

Hi, I'm not sure if this is part of the configuration in our organisation BUT if you are watching a jira then emails will be sent for most updates EXCEPT an update to a comment. Why is that so? Or is there something we are doing wrong? If you EDIT the Jira and then update the comment then an email with all the changes is sent to the Watcher, However, when comment is changed on it's own an email is not sent??? We were wondering why.

please help.

Thanks,

Denise

Check your "notification scheme" for the project(s). I suspect you'll find "add comment" and/or "edit comment" are not set up to be sent to "watchers"

Thanks Nic, I looked at the notification scheme and you're right it is not set up to do that. I don't have access to change it, but I'm happy I understand the behaviour now.

Thanks again.
