We are using the On Demand Greenhopper/JIRA products.

The development team wants the reporter of an issue to add 1 or more watchers to user stories and their sub-tasks.

Preferably not a default set of watchers per project to minimize spam, but specified by the reporter when creating a User Story and/or sub-task.

I didn't find the answer in on-line documentation when checking for watcher or notifications. My apologies if this is obvious. And my thanks in advance.

By default, you can only do this after creating the issue by managing the watchers. You should have the permission to do that too.

There is a JIRA Watcher field plugin that can add watcher field to Create screen but that won't work on onDemand.
