Export and from Jira to excel or Word documents

Suzanne Barthelemy June 2, 2014

Hello.

Our company has recently adopted Jira for issue tracking and project management. We have a set of company-sanctioned project documents that I am now interested in learning if Jira has functionality or an add-on that facilitates the export of data (and perhaps even mapped) into xls or Word. From xls I hope to build a macro, formula or something that will map over and populate into the project documentation. Our goal is to reduce or eliminate any redundancy of entering detail into Jira and then separately into xls or Word. I've bounced around and researched the available add-ons, but would really value external input.

Thanks!

JIRA Better Excel Plugin simplifies exporting JIRA issues to custom Excel files to a single click.

You can create a regular Excel file, which will be used as template, and the plugin will fill it with issue data at every export. (Yes, you can use formulas, too. And functions. Charts. Pivot tables. Pivot charts.)

Make sure you try this

Have you seen the "export to" functions at the top of the issue navigator? (Search for some issues and look near the top right of the results for an export/view option menu)

Hi Suzanne,

Have you looked at our plugin Intelligent Reports? It allows you to do exactly this - reuse existing word documents as templates to be filled in with JIRA data eliminating redundant and pointless work while maintaining a professional standard of reporting.

As a bonus, there is no scripting or API to learn, just some simple point and click rules. This lets you set up your reports quickly, and keep them agile so you can quickly adapt to changing reporting requirements.

Intelligent Reports also comes with several ready to go sample reports so you can immediately see how it works in practice.

Hi Suzanne,

The Xporter for JIRA plugin (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.xpandit.plugins.jiraxporter) is a great solution for you. You can export one or multiple issues in many formats (such as: DOCX, PDF, ODT, SVG or RFT), using templates that you can create and define.

Try it now.

Best Regards,

PMRodrigues
