Can not attach pdf files to issues

Jira shows: Cannot attach file xxxxxx.pdf: Unknown server error (500).

I am able to attach any other type of files.

Got a similar problem, but none of Raul's hints help. A colleague tried to attach a file "FAQ.pdf", which is 170 kB in size. And he gets Reinhard's error message. Odd enough it's also a PDF. I've got admin rights and - strange enough - I can attach that file. But the colleague can't. How can that be?

Reinhard, my PDF contains JPEG images - yours, too?

1. To be able to attach files, your JIRA administrator must have enabled file attachments.

2. Make sure file attached has not exceeded 10 MB> By default, the maximum size of any one file is 10MB, although this limit can be customised by your JIRA administrator.

3. File names cannot contain any of these characters: '\', '/','\"', '%', ':', '$', '?', '*'.
