Can I Use Oracle with OS Authentication?

Julian Green (KMIS) August 14, 2013

I am setting up JIRA 5.2.11.

I have a dedicated user (jirauser) to run the application.

Can I use Oracle's OS authentication (ie ops$jirauser) for the jira connection so that I do not need the Oracle schema owner's name and password stored in clear text as part of the jira configuration?

Hi Julian,

The database connection in JIRA is based on JDBC classes, I see in this discussion that the JDBC oci driver supports this authentication. I didn't have the chance to test yet, but it seems promising to me.

Cheers
