I'm not sure if it's me, or if the project board I've inherited -- but I cannot seem to add a sub task to my ticket.
Wondering what I'm missing -- there are no fields for it.
And "Milestones" -- does nothing.
I've used those in other project boards and tickets.
Any thoughts? thank you.
Hello jsmith,
Welcome to Atlassian Community!
Jira Cloud is always receiving updates and changes, so there are different ways to create subtasks since we have the new issue view and the old issue view.
The first thing to check is if the sub-tasks are enabled on the instance. Please, go to Jira settings > Issues > Sub-tasks.
On this page, you can see the options to Disable/Enable, Translate and Manage, so please, confirm if sub-tasks are turned on.
After that, you can go to the desired ticket to create the sub-task.
New view/Next-gen project:
On the new view, the sub-tasks are called “Child issue", so click on Add a child issue to create sub-tasks.
Old view/Classic project:
You can create sub-tasks by click on … on the right side of the ticket > Create sub-tasks.
Also, for both of the projects, you can search for the issues on Issues and Filters > Search issues and click on … on the last column to create the sub-task.
Hope this helps!
Regards,
Angélica
