username creation fail

I'm new and trying to finish setting up my Atlassian account but when I click on the "Confirm Email" link I am taken to a page where I am asked to create a username. There are no instructions or guidelines but even after I found that usernames apparently must begin with "@" I still cannot continue past this point by entering "@" + a variety of names I've tried - I click the blue "Continue" button but can't advance past this page.

User names do not begin with the @ .

please share a screenshot of what you’re observing when you’re trying to create your username.

Nevermind, it must have been a connectivity issue or something - the next time I tried the button it worked. Thanks for the quick reply though!
