transitioning tasks

we have a new workflow with transitions defined. If the task/issue is assigned to me, I can move across the transitions, but cannot move tasks that are not assigned to me. Is there a way to set up the workflow so that anyone involved in the project can transition tasks.

Seems like your workflow transitions has a condition that says only 'Assignees' can execute this transition. If you remove that condition, everyone can do the transition.
