This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Creating issues and sub-tasks

I use subissues to split work in relation to different work packages.

For example
subtask1 for coding

subtask 2 for testing

subtask 3 for writing the documentation

on the main issue I would like to see the time changes influenced by the subtasks.

Is there any way to do this?

No, there is not really.

Plain JIRA (not Software) does have a roll-up mechanism for estimates and work logs, such that a parent issue can display the sum of all the estimates and work logs for itself and its children, but altering the estimates on a child has no effect on the parent, other than that display (which you can toggle between "parent only" and "parent and all subtasks")

But that's it.  The estimates for each issue are for that issue and don't affect other issues in any way.
