I am experiencing the same issue. When I try and change the columns while creating a new filter or modifying any existing filter, I get an "Internet Explorer has stopped working" message. It only seems to be affecting IE11, but I was able to verify the error on multiple machines. Users using Google Chrome seem be unaffected. Here is the Problem signature being reported by IE:

Can you elaborate more on this? Do you have screenshots? There is no message after you click on the "Column" button? What is expected when you click that? And what screen are you on? Are you on the board configuration? Planning Board and clicking on a filter?

We have exactly the same issue with IE 11.0.96 and Windows 7 Enterprise and  Version jira-6.4.12 - is there an open issue already?
