how can i assign a person to a taks while creating a task

how can i assign a person to a task while creating a task/sub task. I am using JIRA web interface.

Name them in the assignee field.

If you don't have the field on the screen, check that it's included in the create "screen" and that you have the "can assign issues to people" permission in the project.  Also have a look at the top right for the "where's my field" button.
