create issue screen based on issue type

nidhi sharma March 25, 2015

Hi Team,

Can we Configure create screens based on  different issue type . e.g. we have one issue type as IT help and other as Bug in a service desk project, So when we select IT help as issue type, Create issue screen should come according to it, and for Bug it should be different screen. Whether we can configure separate screens based on issue type in a project?

Regards,

Nidhi

Hi Nidhi,

IN JIRA Service Desk you can configure what fields will be displayed based off of the issue type. This configuration is done in the Service Desk > Settings > Request types page.

There you can choose the issue type and configure the fields for it.

Yes.  You need to look at "issue type screen schemes" - see https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Configuring+Fields+and+Screens

It's done in three layers though, and it's often worth explaining them breifly:

  1. screen is a list of fields you are going to show to the user at some point
  2. screen scheme says "use screen x for action y", with the three possible actions being View, Edit and Create
  3. An issue type screen scheme maps screen schemes to issue types in a project, so "for bug, use screen scheme X, and for all other issue types, use scheme Y"
