Hi, 

capacitty planning functionality is included in Jira Service Managemt premium? Or only Jira Software?

It's not listed among the features of Jira Service Management Cloud Premium. 

If you are looking for some alternative apps, I can recommend you ActivityTimeline. 

You will get:

1. Get cross-project view

   ActivityTimeline offers resource capacity insights at both individual and team levels. Each team and individual member have dedicated workload indicator, offering a detailed view of their capacity. 

4. Resource workload monitoring

   Use workload indicators to observe instead of to monitor individual and team workloads in real time. Ensure workloads are balanced to prevent overburdening team members.

5. Integration with advanced roadmaps

   Seamless 2-way integration with Advanced Roadmaps, BigPicture, Structure, etc. on the Individual or Team level to see if your project plans are feasible from the resource perspective.

Not sure if this is achievable in JSM. If you are ok to consider a mktplace app to help you to plan the capacity for your team members and track them, you can try out the one we have developed for the same use case. 

Capacity Planner

The app allows to store the capacity for individual users and save as templates. which can be mapped to a project / fix version to track the allocation and remaining time per user. Do try it out.

Jira Service Management Premium is designed to enhance service management processes, offering tools for incident, problem, and change management, along with AI-powered features for improved service delivery and support​.

For detailed planning, including capacity planning which involves scheduling work, allocating resources, and tracking cross-functional work, Jira Software Premium offers a feature set more aligned with these needs. Jira Software Premium includes Plans (formerly known as Advanced Roadmaps), where you can manage timelines, dependencies, and capacity across teams. 

Alternatively, you can explore the Atlassian Marketplace for addons. For example, Planyway for Jira provide great featured for workload management and time tracking+reporting.

Hi @Elena Bedosti,

I am not aware of any capacity planning features in JSM. Which does make sense - if you ask me - as JSM is built to manage incidents and service requests, which are - by their very nature - unpredictable and mostly unplanned.

How would you see that in practice - apart from having some type of on call schedule for your team in place (which, by the way, is available in JSM)?
