broken group names with non-ASCII characters

Tobias Bräutigam September 30, 2012

We use two group names with non-ASCII characters on our Jira server.

One group for office (named: Büro), one for the CEO (named: Geschäftsführer).

These groups are defective in the GUI.

When an administrator navigates to the menu entry Users:Groups and clicks the delete or edit-link of the group named Büro,

then confirms, the following message is displayed:

--------

Fehler

Gruppe 'Büro' ist keine gültige Gruppe.

--------

Translation:

--------

Error

Group 'Büro' is an invalid group.

--------

This occours in the current versions of IE, Chrome and FF.

Best regards

Tobias Bräutigam

also, can you add non-ASCII characters elsewhere in Jira? e.g. in an issue? Where are your users & groups stored? Internal, external?
