Why does Roadmap not honor edit screen configuration?

Sascha Hülß April 28, 2024

Hello everyone,

i can save changes to fields via Advanced Roadmap's 'Review changes' => 'Save selected changes in Jira' that are not present on the edit screen of the respective issue type.

I'm wondering if there is something misconfigured in my instance or if it's the actual state of the functionality.

Any confirmation/ clarification on this issue would be highly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

SH

Hi Sascha,

The ability to save changes to fields that are not present on the edit screen of the respective issue type is a feature of Advanced Roadmaps in Jira, and it's not necessarily a misconfiguration in your instance. This functionality allows users to make changes to fields that are not directly editable on the issue edit screen, typically fields that are managed by Advanced Roadmaps for planning and tracking purposes.

Advanced Roadmaps allows you to define and manage additional fields that are specific to your planning needs, such as custom fields for estimating, tracking progress, or specifying dependencies. These fields may not be directly editable on the issue edit screen because they are managed within the context of the Advanced Roadmaps planning interface.

When you make changes to these fields within Advanced Roadmaps, such as updating estimates or adjusting dependencies, you can then choose to save those changes directly to the respective issues in Jira. This functionality helps to keep your planning and tracking data in sync with the actual issues in Jira, providing a comprehensive view of your project's progress and planning.
