Why am I unable to set permissions for assigning created issues to a sprint?

I have a user who can create tickets, but the sprint field only shows "None" for him and he is unable to edit this field to set a sprint. I see nothing in his user permissions that would account for this and more importantly I see nowhere to edit permissions for the sprint field at all. Is there something I am missing?

Is your user allowed to edit issues (i.e. "Edit issues" Permission) in all projects appearing on that board? It sounds like he/she is not.

In order to change the just modify the Permission Scheme of the project (or all projects) used by this specific board.

I granted the user edit permissions but they are still unable to edit the sprint field when creating an issue. Could this permission be defined somewhere else?
