What is the "parent" of a Feature (Initiative) in a Plan?

Charlotte McPherson (US-ENG) June 27, 2024

I have several initiatives that are associated to Goals. When I group my plan by Goals, this is working fine, except all my Features are grouped under the 'x issues with parent' section for each goal. this is taking up space. It would look tidier if that text was not there. Also, it makes me wonder what a parent would be, since Initiative is the highest level, aside from the goals already associated.

Thanks!
Charlotte

Hi @Charlotte McPherson (US-ENG),

You should be able to find out where in your hierarchy features are configured in your instance.

  1. Select Setting > Issues.

  2. In the left column, go to Issue type hierarchy.

If features are listed as an issue type there, you should also see what its parent is. If you don't see them, they are at the story level (which is the default hierarchy level for any standard issue type in Jira), having Epics as their parent level.

Hope this helps!
