What is the permission to change Request Types from within an issue

Hello,

 

What is the permission to change Request Types from within an issue?

 

I have gone through the permssion schemes but can't find the permission to do this.

Hi @Harry Bob ,

With help of edit issue permission you will be able to change request type for the issue and please make sure the customer request type is edit issue screen associated with that issue type.

Sorry but I don't understand what you mean.

 

Would you be able to explain the steps I needs to do? Are these permissions in the 'Permission Schemes' area?

Hi Harry,

You need to have below things in place to change the request type from an issue.

1) Make sure you have 'Edit Issue' project permission

2) Make sure 'Request Type' field is added to the screen which is being used for 'Edit issue' operation in the project. You can check this from Project settings > Screens and click on the screen setup for 'Edit issue' operation for the given issue type.

Please note that you will be able to change the request type if the underlying 'Issue Type' is same between the request types.

e.g. Lets say,  'Task' issue type linked to 'Technical Support' and 'General questions' request types. And 'Bug' issue type is linked to only 'Report a bug' request type.

You will be able to change 'Technical Support' to 'General questions'  or vice versa. But, you won't be able to change 'Report a bug' to any other request type as the underlying issue type is not same.

No. We need to use 'Move' option in Next-Gen project.
