What does "Automatic" assignee mean?

Hi there

When we create an issue, the Assignee is set to "Automatic"

What does this mean, exactly? How can it be controlled? I can't seem to find anything about it

On server it is assigned to the project lead unless you use components and set them up to have the component lead assigned if the reporter selects a component. Cloud may be different.
