Using a default set of fields for all projects

This is similar to https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/How-to-set-a-default-issue-screen-when-creating-a-new-project/qaq-p/1131914 but that was marked as answered and i want to take it one step further.

When I create a project, there are fields missing from the item/issue screens that I'm almost always going to want to see, including some custom fields that I've created.

When I installed Jira, there was a screen called "Default Screen". I added more fields to that screen. Right now, when I make a new project, a new screen schema is made for the new project and it's populated with fields that were in "Default Screen" sans the new fields that I've added.

How do I get all of the fields from Default screen added to new project screens?  For that matter, what is "Scrum Issue Type Screen", which also appears to be a default set.

I'm very confused.

Hi Bearcat - I rarely create a new project from scratch now. I almost always copy an existing one, even creating a templated project with these base screens/fields, etc. that I need.

Ok cool. I'll just create a project called Default and spawn new projects from it.   In fact I'll create a few templates.  There's probably a project template plugin that does exactly this anyway.

When creating a new project, I don't see an option to copy one. I see "Import a project", "Create with Shared Configuration" and "Create Sample Data".

How do I copy a project in the interface?

Hi @Bearcat M_ Şándor  - Sorry for the poor wording. You are correct, you do not copy the project, you create a new one and use the Create with Shared Configuration option. Then you select the "template" that you previously created. I hope that is clearer!

Well sort of, but don't want them to be tied. If I change the template, I don't want it's children to be altered.

I'll look for a plugin. Thank you for the assistance.
