Having read the January 2014 Oracle Critical Patch Update Advisory, I can see that I need to upgrade the MySQL used by my JIRA servers.

I am currently running MySQL v5.5.x.

JIRA supported platforms lists support for "MySQL v5.x" (for both JIRA v6.0 and JIRA v6.2)

So, I could upgrade to v5.5.35.

But is it worth going to v5.6.15? ie, will JIRA benefit from a switch to MySQL v5.6?

Now offering a bounty. I have read the MySQL 5.6 What's New documentation and see the mention of "better performance and scalability". I just want to be sure that JIRA will benefit. My MySQL is run for me - but by people who work day to day on Oracle and not on MySQL. So they cannot really provide an insight.
