Site restore from production to sandbox

Hi,

When we restore our Jira Cloud Site to an equivalent Cloud sandbox site, does it copy all the data/project from Production to Cloud or can we chose what projects not to copy over to the sandbox?

thanks

Hi - from recollection, you don't get the option to choose which of projects do/don't get copied - the whole site is copied, so all the projects get copied over to the sandbox. There are some restrictions where certain things don't get copied - see the table in https://support.atlassian.com/organization-administration/docs/manage-product-sandboxes/ which lists the elements that won't be copied.

Once in the sandbox, you could perhaps delete/archive the projects you don't need?

When you copy data over from production to sandbox you get two choices:

1. All data including attachments - This includes all projects

2. All data excluding attachments - This includes all projects

I am part of Revyz, this is what I have sen some of our customers do:

1. Every qtr there is a set day when the sandbox gets refreshed with data excluding attachments (if you include attachments the process takes longer)

2. Before the refresh occurs all configuration changes that need to be pushed to production are completed using our Revyz Data Manager for Jira app

BTW we are announcing a new app on Oct 2nd which will help you manage your configuration across sandbox and production!

Thanks

Vish
