Epircs are delivered across multiple sprints so
1. Should we assign any sprint number to epics ?
If yes, how to assign multiple sprint number to epics ?
2. If sprint is closed and some stories for that epic are planned in next sprint , then JIRA shows that Epic as INCOMPLETE in current sprint , this is not correct picture
3. Do we need to assign story points to epics or it should be sum total of all the child issues tagged or libked to that epic ?
5. In Initiative then Epic then stories tree structure , is sum total of story points of child uner epic or issue should match total of stpry points of parent ?
No. Epics should not go into sprints. They are intended to be cross-project containers that group stories together for a reason, but are not worked on themselves directly.
The estimate on an Epic should have two values at the same time. It should be 0 for the amount of work you are going to do on the Epic itself, but also the sum of he estimates on all the stories so that you can see how much work is estimated overall. Obviously, if you sprint on the epic, then the first value is the one you should count, otherwise you are double counting estimates and making all your numbers totally wrong.
