Script Runner condition to catch issue created from email

William McGuinness
February 16, 2015

We will often create urgent issues by mailing JIRA and have set up a mail handler to field the issues and create them in the proper project. Since these are urgent issues, we had wanted to transition them automatically to Confirmed, since they don't need to go through a formal approval process.

At first (and second) glance, it appears there is no way to have such issues automatically created with a "Confirmed" status. It also appears there is no way to use Script Runner to fast-track transition them either, as these issues are impossible to tell apart from issues created normally (i.e., via the JIRA user interface). Is there any way we can tell these issues apart by changing some sort of settings? After looking for a while, I can't seem to find how to do this.

Thanks in advance!

we can't think of a way to differentiate issues created from mail or from the ui, however you could work around this issue by sending emails with an specific subject that can then be recognised by a script listener.
