Rich jira filter

I am trying to develop a report, I was told that rich jira filter will help in Jira dash board, I tried to create one, It requires to pick existing one to create a new, I do not know How to make a selection , I picked  one was able to follow the directions, I built the query but it did  not display any result, Can some one guide me how to pick the existing native from the list and build a report is there any tutorial guiding this process, I did search on google found some examples and it did not work for me either made mistake some where to follow the directions or did not find the right one I need

Have you checked this article about creating filters (you can create from a search result in Jira)?

If you have filters and you can't find them in a gadget in the dashboard, I wonder if you're running into a similar issue as the ones described here:
