Remaining Hours on closed tasks

Barbara Ilves March 17, 2014

Is it possible that subtasks could have remaining hours automatically removed when a sub-task is closed? Closed = no more work needed, and it takes up extra time to edit the issue manually after closing.

This was answered in https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-1423

The options are to:

  1. create a workflow post function to automatically change it (as mentioned above) - see the confluence page describing how to do this:https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRAKB/Set+Remaining+Estimate+to+0+on+post+function
  2. add the time tracking fields to the resolve screen to manually change it

This solved my issue.

Adding post function "Update field value" and set value to '0' for my Closed status in workflow resolved the issue

Thanks

Log Work Utilities add-on allows to clear remaining estimate on issue close/resolve without a need to modify workflow: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.gebsun.plugins.jira.log-work-utilities/server/overview

I assume the workflow post function does not work in the Agile Simplified Workflow? Jira says not to edit this workflow as it is managed by Jira Agile.

Hi Barbara

If you are using those sub-tasks in Agile we won't recommend you setting the remaining hours to zero, because it will influence in the charts. Once the remaining hours are taken in consideration.

Hope it helps,

Ricardo Carracedo.
