Plugin for calculated custom fields for Jira Server to Cloud migration

We have a simple calculated field, "Days Old", number of days since issue had been created.  Simple with 2 lines of Groovy on JIRA Server, but its turning out to be a nightmare to do it for JIRA Cloud (scheduled job + long script to iterate issues to update them with days old value)... I realize Jira Cloud no longer offers the Java api, but isn't there a better way to do this using the RESTful api?
