Missing "Bulk Change" option

Michal Ondrovič August 30, 2018

I want to move opened issues from one project to another, but I don't have Bulk change option in my tools menu.

I'm the administator, I checked the global permissions and the administrator group has bluk change permitted.

I also checked the transition permissions of the project (I read somewhere that it's needed), but it looks ok as well.

I also tried to check bulk change permission with Permission helper, but there is no "bulk change" in the Permission helper menu as well.

Am I missing something?

Thanks

Standard JIRA in my experience.  World of options, need a degree in Atlassian to find them.

I don't have bulk options - I have 50 tickets to remove.  It will take me more time to figure out how to surface the option than it will to delete them one by one (could be permission type.. could be a configuration within the permission... could be I'm not looking at the correct Issue filter... and so on.  Add in the fact it's so slow to actually do anything that even when you're on the right track sometimes it's quicker to leave it - chuck everything in a sprint called bin and figure it out later).

When software takes longer to figure out something than it does to perform the action tediously / manually  (consistently - this is a regular scenario) it pretty much defeats its purpose.

Select all - delete.  Be a nice idea...

I don't have any options, let alone Bulk Change:

Turns out that it is extremely non-intuitive. Here's how I got it to work:

First off, you need to do a search of issues, or filter a queue:

[yourDomain]/secure/Dashboard.jspa --> Issues and Filters --> Search Issues

Or

[yourDomain]/secure/Dashboard.jspa --> Issues and Filters --> [select a filter from the list]

Once you have a list of issues

Click ••• in the upper right corner and select Bulk change all [n] issue(s)
Select the issues you want to change and click Next
Select the operation and click Next
Make the changes and/or click Next
NOTE: if you have the option of Send mail for this update, deselect it to avoid spamming everyone
Click Confirm
Click Acknowledge

actually, guys, you have to be global admin. If you got global permission, the bulk change setting appears, and no one tells you that.

Bulk change worked for me until the last Friday, and I was just a project admin. Now I've got no available options as described above in this thread.

For me, on Jan 2022, only worked what @Plinio mentioned.

Hi @Michal Ondrovič,

please go to the issue navigator, select the issues you want to move there and then you should be able to bulk move them.

Hi, thanks for reply.

How can I select multiple issues? I'm able to select only one issue...

I read the link you sent me, but I don't have any "Bulk change" option in my tools ("...") menu.

Hi, @Michal Ondrovič!

What do you mean by "I'm able to select only one issue... "?

The Screenshot of your tools menu seems to be from the issue detail view.

Please go to "Issues & Filters" -> "Search issues"

It should look like this then.

2018-08-30 11_17_00-[TEST-3] test - Jira.png

Then use the Dropdown fields to select the issues you want to move.

Then go to the three dots on the top right corner and there should be the Bulk Edit Option.

Now I see... Going to "Issues & filters" is not enough, I don't see any "Search issues" option. I have to click on "advance search" link to see Search issues options also with the bulk change menu. Not very user friendly...

Thank you for your help.
