Migrating FogBugz to JIRA

Adrian December 5, 2018

Hi all, non-techie newbie here; with a question about whether it's possible to easily migrate / import all cases from a very old version of on-premise FogBugz into JIRA (on-premise or cloud) and how that's done.

FogBugz on-premise Version is 7.3.9 (DB 745, Build 2400) (c.2003). Platform is Windows Server 2003R2 and SQL Server 2008R2.

Any advice and process steps welcome.

Hi Adrian,

Yes, it is possible to do this with Jira.   Jira Server has an importers plugin that comes bundled with Jira Server.  This specific Atlassian plugin can import from FogBugz 7.3.6 and later versions.   More details on this are in Importing data from FogBugz for your Server.

Once you have Jira Server installed and running, you can go to the Gear icon -> System -> External System Import -> Fogbugz.   This option will then prompt you to select your fogbugz database type, address, port, database name, username, and password.  You can complete those fields, and in turn Jira will walk you through a wizard that can then connect to your Fogbugz database and process your records so they can be imported into Jira.

Let me know if you have any questions about this.

Andy
