Hi @asadiq
Reading your comments, I see that you want to have a predefined value in the field when you open Create issue dialog. To achieve it, you need to use an addon. For example, our app: Issue Templates Agent. You can define templates and your users can use them during issue creation.
If you use Jira automation, first of all you need to have an issue in Jira. So you can create rule: Issue Created > Edit issue. But in this case, this field will be empty on the Create issue screen.
Hiv @asadiq
Please explain your thoughts on this and what would this help accomplish and how.
Do know that automation can't trigger on an issue before the issue exists in the system, there is no validation option via automation on a non existing issue.

Hi Marc
Thanks very much for making it clear that automation only helps once the issue has been logged into Jira whilst loading the fields to log the issue doesn't look like an option.

Hi @asadiq
This would require an app or a specific screen with specific fields with default field information.
If you use fields, that are now default system fields, like Description, make sure to have an automation that copies that information after field creation.
This to simplify search in later stages.
Otherwise, look at apps on the marketplace, that offer issue templates options

Hi @asadiq , could you please explain in greater detail what you are trying to accomplish? It is difficult to give you a good answer based on the information you have provided.

Hi Jack
If tester needs to raise a bug, every time one has to fill out the following details.
Reproduction steps
Expected behavior:
Actual Behavior
Version
Environment ..........
Most of the times, the above fields need to be filled out every single time we need to raise a bug. I am wondering if there is an automated way to achieve this (without add on/ extensions).

Hi @asadiq ,
So it is odd that you want to circumvent required fields. At least that is how I am reading your last reply. What you are saying is that if a tester wants to raise a bug they must fill in specific fields which makes perfect sense. Using automation to fill in this information defeats the purpose of asking the tester for said information. With that said, I would recommend one of the following:
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
