This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Using a Board
Are Kanban and scrum boards a type of dashboard, or are they completely different?
In Jira-speak:
A Scrum board is a view of a set of issues that are in progress, arranged in a grid style with columns for position in the process, plus options to help you rank and plan blocks of time to work on stuff
A Kanban board is similar to Scrum, but doesn't plan, stuff comes in, you move it across the board as work progresses, then its done.
A dashboard is somewhere you go to look at a set of reports that tell you stuff about what's going on in your system in general. It's customisable, with a wide selection of very different reports
