Hi.
I have been testing hierarchies and i have encountered a problem with list view not appearing to display things correctly. I am testing in Jira Cloud.
I have created a level above epic called "Operations". Operations is the parent of two epics i have linked to the operation with parent link. This relation is not showing in List view, and the operation does not have a drop down menu. Is this intended?
Further i have tested creating an issue on task level, and then linking it to an epic using epic link. This task is showing as a separate entity in list view. If i use the drop down on the epic in list view the task is then shown twice(but not always). If the independent listing of the task is below the epic in list view, the drop down menu for the epic show nothing.
I did some more testing while writing this, and it appears list view doesn't show any hierarchies no matter how i create the issues (from "create child" , via epic links etc). Any input/tips is appreciated.
Hi @Marius,
Your observation is correct. The extended hierarchies are a feature of advanced roadmaps, which is part of Jira Software. List view is a part of Jira Work Management, one of 3 Jira products (or feature packages, if you like). The Jira Software hierarchy is not supported in Jira Work Management, unfortunately - as the list view is not available in Jira Software the other way around.
Hope this clarifies!
Ok, thank you very much. Yes i think i understand now. It's quite confusing as i am able to see the hierarchies in detail view, and create epics/operations in the project with the list. Do you know by any chance if JWM/list view will support these hierarchies at a later date?

Hi @Marius
welcome to the community!
If you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, I think you might like from the app that my team is working on, JXL for Jira.
JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields. It also supports issue hierarchies, which you can easily configure to match your Advanced Roadmaps hierarchy; this then really gives you the convenience and ease-of-use of a list view with a consistent hierarchy experience.
This is how this looks in action for a 5-level hierarchy:
You can also create issues within this hierarchy using inline-issue creation, and benefit from advanced features such as grouping, sum-ups, and conditional formatting. It's also worth noting that JXL works with all project types, not just JWM projects.
Any questions just let me know!
Hope this helps,
Hannes
