Jira Service Desk Attachment Notifications

Tim Patrick March 19, 2018

Is it possible to stop notifications going out when an attachment is added to a ticket in Jira Service Desk?

At the moment, any tie we try to add an attachment to a comment, a separate box comes up asking us to either add the attachment to the ticket only, or share with customer.

If the share with customer option is selected, a notification goes to the client before the comment has been completed so they end up with 2 notifications. not ideal.

Any suggestions welcome.

Hey Tim,

There is no way out of the box to do this at this time.

There are features that can be voted up.

  1. https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-1898
  2. https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-1898

There is also a way to do this with Scriptrunner as a postfunction as explained in the article below:

I've voted for both of these now.

With regards to the 3rd link you sent about built-in scripts, I don't fully understand what functionality this would give me. Would this be to purely add the attachment into the email notification?

If so, this isn't a problem for us. I mainly need to find a way to stop notifications going out when an attachment is added.
