JIRA Searching with Sub-Tasks

Hello All,

Is there a way to do a JIRA filter such that all sub-tasks for a parent ticket are shown after the parent, even if they are not in sequence number order?

Hey Neil,

As far as I know the closest you can get is by using the JQL Tricks plugin

Thanks! Worked out to be what I needed - helped with some other searching I needed to do as well!

I had a similar requirement, and solved it with a Script Runner Calculated Field.

The "Parent Child" scripted field is implemented as below:

import com.atlassian.jira.issue.Issue

Issue myIssue = issue
String issueId = String.valueOf(myIssue.getId())
Issue parentIssue = null
String parentIssueId = ""
if (myIssue.isSubTask()) {
	parentIssue = myIssue.getParentObject()
	parentIssueId = String.valueOf(parentIssue.getId())
	return parentIssueId + "_" + issueId
else {
	return issueId

A reindex may be needed after implementation.

An example value of a regular issue is "167854", and some subtask of this get the values "167854_167585" and "167854_167589"

This search makes the subtasks appear directly after the parent:
project = [Project Key] ORDER BY "Parent Child" ASC
