Issue Types

liz January 15, 2021

The documentation says that there are the following Issue types: Epics, Stories, Tasks, SubTasks and Bugs and that more can be added. I added a new type, which I thought was global since it was added in Jira settings. I expected to see it in the project I created but in fact I only have the standard types.

Should I be able to create a new global Issue type>
If so should it populate any new project?
If so is there anything obvious I may have done wrong?

Thank you

Hi Liz,

Yes - You can set up new issue types via the settings cog > issue types.

You'll need to add these to classic projects by changing the issue type scheme in the project:

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/add-edit-and-delete-an-issue-type-scheme/

It's a bit more straightforward in next gen projects - just go to 'project settings' and + 'add issue types'
