Is there a way to have JIRA create a new branch in GitLab upon issue creation?

So far my searching has resulted in no definite answer.  I believe that this currently isn't possible but I figured I'd ask.  If there isn't a way to do it by default in JIRA is there an addon that provides this functionality(haven't found anything yet during my searching).  If the answer to both questions is no is there a plan to implement this in future releases of JIRA?

Thanks in advance.

Edward,

I never worked with gitlab, i just want to let you know that there're a lot of integration options:

https://marketplace.atlassian.com/search?query=gitlab

If none of those options works and gitlab has a public api you can try by implementing a post function with a plugin like script runner
