How to show a blocking popup when updating issue status in JIRA Edited

I need to show a blocking popup message with an action like OK or Cancel.

This popup shall appear when a user tries to Close/complete an opened main issue/task that has opened sub-tasks and issues.

Hi @Bassam Al-Khatib

This may be possible with an add-on like script runner. However, wouldn’t this be easier to prevent closing the parent issue (no transition available to close) until all sun-tasks are set to done status using a condition?

  • Edit your workflow
  • Select the transition to done/closed status
  • Add a condition: Sub-Task blocking condition
  • Save

Thank you @Ismael Jimoh , In fact I need to apply this for specific type of JIRA issues not all issues in the system.

Hi @Bassam Al-Khatib

You can either have a separate workflow for the issue type the above matches(ensure it is not shared by another project or issue type).

If however you need something super specific with some kind of search then you’ll need to look to a custom add-on for a solution like this.

Scriptrunner comes first to mind but you can check what add-ons  like Jira Suite Utilities or see what is available in the condition section of your workflow.
