Hi, I want to know how to import issues with "Original Estimate" value.
In the answers for this question, I saw that is possible to import the value in seconds. I wrote a .csv file with original estimate in seconds, but I couldn't map this value to any field in JIRA.
Then, my question is:
How can I set up issue importing to make "Original Estimate" visible?
EDITS:
[1] In the picture, the list of fields available to map - no Original Estimate available.
[2] My project is "Software Project" type. Does the type of the project have anthing to do with this behavior?
Thanks in advance.
Hello @Tiago S.
Are you a Jira Administrator for your instance?
How are you accessing the import function; through the Advanced Issue Search screen or through administrator functions (System > External System Import)?
Based on the screen image I think you are using the Import function from the Search screen.
Is Original Estimate a field that is available on the Create Issue screen for issues in the project to which you are trying to import the issues?
Thanks for your answer.
I'm accessing the import function through Advanced Issue Search Screen.
About being Jira Administrator, I think I am, because I set up Jira for personal use and there's no team members beside me.
Orginal Estimate is not available when I access Create Issue screen.

You have two options.
1. Add Original Estimate to the Create Issue screen. If you do that, then the field should show up when you are trying to map fields for import when you access the Import function through the Search screen.
2. Access the Import function through the administration screens: click the Gear icon, select System, then External System Import. That gives you access to all fields even if they are not on the screens.

Hey @Trudy Claspill
Thanks for your quick response.
* On adding Original Estimate to Create Issue (1) - when I access this screen, these are the options for field configuration (image 1, both "all" and "custom" fields)
* On accessing the import function (2) - as I take the path System > External Import, I go to this screen (image 2). During the import process, I can't access Original Estimate (image 3).
** Aditional comment here: I tried for one time to import from .csv, and then I mapped Original Estimate (seconds) by typing it, but I couldn't repeat this process, don't know why.
Thanks for your help so far.

Hello @Tiago S.
To add the field to the screen you need to do the following.
(This is an abbreviated, not detailed, set of requirements.)
1. Add the field to the Field Configuration used by the targeted issue type(s) in the destination project to which you are trying to import issues.
2. Add the field to the Screen used for Create Issues for the targeted issue type(s) in the destination project to which you are trying to import issues.
These are settings that would be accessed through the Administrator functions - the Gear Icon, and then the Issues options. Field Configurations and Screens are among the options you would then see available.
You would need to know the Field Configuration and Screen used by the targeted issue type(s) in the destination project. This information can be accessed through the Project Settings for the project.
If that is enough information for you to make progress, great! If you need more details, let me know and I can provide more explicit instructions and pointers to documentation.

Hey @Trudy Claspill
Following the Field Configuration procedure I was able to make Time Tracking filelds visible both in Create Issue screen and External Import screen.
The problem is solved.
Thank you once more!

Hi - I have been importing Epics and Tasks for over a year and have not had any issues with the Original Estimate field updating in my Tasks. This has suddenly stopped working and I'm wondering if there is anything that changed or would cause that field value not to import? The other fields are importing properly (as they have been).
Thank you.

In a thread posted by another user I've been discussing a problem with importing Original Estimate values. When I import the values in my personal and recently created Jira Free subscription, when I map the fields I see "Original Estimate (in seconds)" as the field to map to, and I have no problem with the import. The other users sees only "Original Estimate" as an option, and their values do not import.
What do you see?
Have you reached out to Atlassian Support directly on this?

Interesting - I only see "Original Estimate" as well.
