How to set up an external user who can only see a specific project?

We need to set up an external user, who could see only one project, comment on tickets in that project, and export query results. What's the simplest way to do that?

Create a separate group for that user and grant the following permissions in the project's permission scheme to that group:

  • Browse Projects
  • Add Comments
  • Delete Own Comments
  • Edit Own Comments

You can do this with a single user and not a group, but I would suggest adding group as this will make things easier if you want to add a second user at some point as then you can just add it to the group and avoid scheme editing.

Remember that you'll also need to provide them with a group to allow them to log in, and remove them from all groups that give them permissions on other projects (i.e. work out how to remove "jira users" from all your other schemes)
