How to reset an Enterprise Cloud instance

Henrique Bittencourt May 20, 2023

The Premium tier lets you reset a site in a very simple way, you just need to delete and add the product again from the admin page, as outlined in this article.

Now, if you have an Enterprise account, that's not applicable. It becomes a extremely bureaucratic process, it can take up to 7 business days to complete. There are several teams the support team need to reach out to and it's long and drawn out.

According to the Atlassian Cloud Support Team, deleting a site is generally a 14 day wait if done by the admin via the UI.

I would like to understand why there are differences between Premium and Enterprise tiers from Cloud products regarding the instance reset?

Hi @Henrique Bittencourt and welcome to the Community!

An enterprise plan allows you to have as many Jira Software Enterprise products as you like while having to pay only once per user. That is not the case with premium, where you pay for a license per product.

From your question, it seems as if resetting your site (as in literally deleting everything that is in there to start over entirely from scratch) is somehow part of your normal workflow of doing things. If so, on an enterprise plan you may just be able to add a new Jira instance to achieve the same goal. On the other hand, it would be interesting to understand why you would consider choosing such an approach. Most organisations (definitely those with enterprise grade solutions, designed for thousands of users and lots of capabilities) build out their platform rather than deleting everything in it.

If you are currently in a migration, use test sites during testing first before migrating into your final production site to avoid having to clear everything out over and over again. And similarly, if you are currently experimenting with things, rather use a sandbox on a premium plan or create additional test / development sites on an enterprise plan.

Hope this helps!

@Walter Buggenhout

When you says:

If we create a new instance, can we use the same site URL as the first one? Or we need to use a new URL?
