How to display and sort by last assigned sprint only!

I am trying to build a simple burn down list, and am having trouble with the way the sprint field works. I do not want to see more than one sprint listed, ever. It's simply not relevant, is visually messy and somehow breaks the ordering. Notice on the attached image that a sprint 3 story is in the middle of the sprint 1 ones. Is there some way to clean this up? Its really not useful for engineering teams as it is.

@Jack Brickey  - I Agree with @Rebecca Mengell that this is a worse feature of JIRA of displaying all the historical data in the sprint field. It really messes up all the reports/dashboards and causes to do a lot of manual work for our team.

I am really not sure what someone is going to do with this historical data? and if that is required can they just create a separate field for that?

Now, what I need to get is a view of no: of a particular type of issue that was closed in a particular sprint. with the current implementation, the JQL simply gives me count of issues that was assigned to that sprint, regardless of whether that issue is closed in that sprint or moved to a subsequent sprint. As far as my reporting requirement is concerned, this data is simply useless.

Hope JIRA will find a solution for this issue (Note that I do not have administrative rights , but has a need for reporting. Hence the workaround of creating custom fields, implementing automation etc. will not work for me.)

Would Atlassian consider adding a column for Open Sprint?

Hi Rebecca, I’m not sure what you mean when saying you are trying to create a burn down list. Your image is illustrating the result of a query. If you want to view the a sprint burndown you can use the reports for your board. If you want to only show the latest sprint associated with an issue in the sprint field then you are going to need to establish a process of deleting previous sprints from the field anytime an issue is not completed in a sprint and moved to a subsequent sprint. Note I do not recommend this as that history can be quite valuable and will mess up historical reports. Finally similar to what @KAGITHALA BABU ANVESH mentions you can create a query for a specific sprint by including the sprint field in the query. You can choose open sprints() or a specific sprint.

hope this helps.

Last Assigned or current sprint.

For current ongoing sprint  --> "Epic Link" = "ABCD-12" and sprint in openSprints()
