How to create a milestone task

How to create a milestone task

I need to be able to create one task that is more of a project milestone than a working task. I can't find a way to do this and be able to identify an individual task in query/ report other than by name which will vary with each project. Similiar to creating sub tasks, is there a way to isolate a task by doing something in the UI that makes it a non working 'task'?

Have you thought about creating an issue type called "milestone"? Associate a screen which only has sth. like a due date and the summary, maybe making it non-editable?

Now you could link all the tasks with that milestone and you easily identify the issue by its type...

how can i link tasks or components to my Milestones ? I want to create a Milestone plan for all my components out of JIRA Gant Chartt..
