Hello,
In my organisation, JIRA does not have issue type test. We have default issues types: Story, epic, bug, task and subtask.
I want to add Issue type -test , so we can use jira as test management tool.
I am not Jira Admin and might be missing some configuration. I am trying to create it on project level first to try.
I have created : issue type, screen, screen schemes, issue type screen scheme.
Not sure what else is missing and how to connect the to complete the configuration.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks
Indeed, if you’re using a software company managed project, the default issue types that come with it are: Epic, Bug, Story, Task and Subtask – so you are right in wanting customize/add issue types to match that of your team’s use case.
Although, unless you’re using a team-managed project (which to me sounds like you’re not) then please be advised that creation of an issue type is not done at the project level, rather on the Jira site level. Once you create an issue type, then you can attach that to your issue type scheme based on the issue types you need for each of their projects.
If say, you have an issue type scheme that is shared with another company managed projects, then attaching that ‘Test’ issue type to one project’s issue type scheme will also have the same result/impact for the other project since they are using the same issue type scheme.
Note: You must be a Jira administrator with the Administer Jira permissions (which is a Global permission) to do the following things.
I hope that helps.

Hamza

Hi Hamza,
Unfortunately this did not work for our company.
We are trying add on Xray to see if it serves the purpose.
Thanks,
