I recently started at a new company, and am working on getting Jira used by groups besides Software.

We currently update spreadsheet life in a meeting and have several such spreadsheets.

I have all my filters created and all the needed fields in my List View.

What I am not able to do is edit issues within the "List View", and opening each issue takes too long. I know we did this in my last company so I know it's possible, but I do not know how to enable that capability.

Any advice on what Admin Setup changes are needed? I am using version 8.20.12.

I believe you are wanting to display the detail view. Done like this:

What I want to do is edit information directly in the List View. Without opening the issue itself.

Hi @mark oppenheimer

welcome to the community!

I'm not sure what experience you used in your previous company, but from your description, I think you'll love the app that my team is working on, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of advanced features, including buk editing via copy/paste, support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping, sum-ups, and conditional formatting.

This is how it looks in action:

JXL works in and across projects of any type, and integrates into the project sidebar, making it easy to discover for all team members.

Since you've tagged your question for Jira Server: As you may have heard, app sales have ended for Jira Server. Are you planning to migrate to Data Center or Cloud? I'd strongly recommend that. If you need some more time, JXL is perfectly compatible with Jira Server; it's just that we need to generate a license for you. If the above looks interesting, just let me know, and I'll happily start a free trial for you.

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes
