I know you can hide tickets marked as "Done" but I also assume it's not a good thing to eventually have 6 million+ tickets marked as done on a single jira board but all just hidden.

Surely it's not impossible to remove a ticket REGARDLESS of its status right?

Welcome to the community!
I wouldn't suggest deleting the ticket (you might regret it later). If you've got too many issues marked as done, it could be a good idea to start a new project and move those completed tickets there to "archive" them instead of just deleting them.
